A Swishing Good Time.

This week, I’ve beeen slightly disturbed by the regular sighting of other people walking down the street wearing my clothes. No, I haven’t been the unfortunate subject of a wardrobe burglary, rather that last Saturday saw the decent of thirty or so women and at least four hundred items of clothing upon my living room (including far more of my own than I care to admit that I had been hoarding against my better judgement).

It was the night of my first ever clothes swapping party (or swishing party as they have come to be known). Each guest brought a minimum of ten items, ranging from shoes, to dresses to coats, and my home was transformed into an emporium of delights, with the unbelievable bonus that everything was free! Inhibitions went out the window as we all excitedly swapped frocks and everyone went home with a great haul, at no cost to themselves or the planet! Completely ethical, instant recycling. Fashiontastic!

Are the freezing temperatures getting you down? Heating bills going through the roof? And to top it all off, Christmas is over and the fun of the summer feels a million years away.

Don’t be cold and miserable on your own; get your friends round for a party – all that body heat will get your home nicely warmed up and there’s no better way to get rid of the post-Christmas blues than by throwing a shindig.

And the icing on the party cake is that your house will be so toasty that you’ll be able to turn down the thermostat, saving money on your bills and helping the environment! Totally eco!

Adding all of our lovely festive party supplies to the eco my party shop has given me a real taste for food with a festive flavour. Christmas pudding, roast potatoes, odd selections of nuts…

How many mince pies is it acceptable to eat in a day, I wonder?

Eco My Packaging

Hello there,
This week I am mostly thinking about compostable plastic…
Seriously. I could never have foreseen that I would be so genuinely delighted at the thought of all our lovely eco party supplies being carefully packaged in their own cellophane bags made from wood pulp. Perfect for shop shelves.

Why does petroleum-based plastic even exist any more, I wonder? It’s definitely time to tell plastic to fork off. Let’s start a revolution.
Oooo, that sounds like a great excuse for a party…

Eco My Second Place!!

Hello all, and THANK YOU SO MUCH for increasing the profits of the nation’s telecommunication companies by calling in and supporting me and eco my party throughout ITV’s Mumpreneur competition. Although we didn’t win, we did come in second place (ok, so I’m clutching at straws here as there wasn’t actually a prize for second place…) thanks to all of your votes. It was amazing, as both an entrepreneurial mum and the founder of an ethical business to get mainstream recognition, and (get your hankies out…) I hope it has inspired others to pursue both their ideas and ideals.
And now for the finale: I’d like to thank my family, in particular my sister, my school, Alexander Graham Bell for inventing the telephone, my neighbour’s cat…
(is this Oscars enough for you all yet?)...
... my primary school teacher, my first guinea-pig…

Celebrate FSC Friday on 26th September with our totally eco, FSC certified balloons!

We like parties. And we like the planet too. That’s why we decided to go on a mission to stop parties giving the world one massive hangover and create eco my party’s range of totally eco disposable party ware that includes our fantastic FSC certified & fairly traded rubber balloons.

So, what better way to celebrate the Forestry Commission’s first ever FSC day on Friday 26th September than with our totally eco, 100% biodegradable balloons? Like all products carrying the FSC label, these balloons are independently certified, which ensures that their rubber comes from forests that are managed to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations.

And not only are they FSC certified, they are made from fairly traded rubber and biodegrade at the same rate as an oak leaf! They can even be put on your compost heap and when they have broken down can be used to grow the flowers and food for your next celebration!

Even the bags they are packed in are natural – made from corn starch, they return to nature in a matter of weeks too. Totally eco!

And at a comparable price to standard, non-eco balloons that hang around the planet like unwanted guests, there is simply no reason not to eco your FSC Friday party with our FSC certified, totally eco balloons.
